Man's best friend loves unconditionally. We can learn a lot from a dog about how to love. "9 Lives" and the other six books in this series were written to inspire change in a hurting world. We are so consumed with what others think. We desperately want to fit in and feel loved. The Man with Nine Lives () Released in England as Behind the Door, The Man with Nine Lives () is the second of Columbia's unofficial "Mad Doctor" series starring Boris Karloff. He made his first with the studio, The Man They Could Not Hang (), a year earlier, and later went on to Before I Hang () and The Devil Commands (). In each, he played a scientist obsessed with his.

I read a book, in the s, I had purchased from a used book store. It was a sci-fi/fantasy book about a man who had been turned into a dog; he still had fingers and could talk. He could do limited magic (not always successful). He traveled through a portal in an American National Park to a foreign world of fairies and dragons. Nine Lives is an absolutely beautiful book: honest, edifying, and moving. I love so much about it, but mostly I love how William Dalrymple has gotten out of the way of the story, letting the characters inhabit in their own voices every square inch of each page.
